iNaturalistis a free citizen science platform used widely across the world.
Records of plants, animals and fungi seen within the Christmas Hills Landcare Group area are regularly uploaded by members of the public.
Download the free iNaturalist app and start recording your observations and in doing so add to Nature in Christmas Hills

The Great Southern Bioblitz is an annual international citizen science event focussed on the southern hemisphere.
It encourages people to get out and use the free citizen science app, iNaturalist, to record (as images and/or sound recordings) all the different plants animals and fungi they can find during the four designated days of the Bioblitz in the southern hemisphere spring.

The City Nature Challenge is an annual global citizen science event coordinated by the California Academy of Sciences and the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, that was first run in 2016.
It encourages people to get out and use the free citizen science app, iNaturalist, to record (as images and/or sound recordings) all the different plants animals and fungi they can find during the four designated days of the Challenge during the northern hemisphere spring.
Participating cities “compete” to see who canmake the most observations, find the most species, and engage the most observers in discovering the nature that lives in and around their city.
Both Nillumbik and Yarra Ranges regularly participate as part of the Greater Melbourne collaboration.

The Entomological Society of Victoria is an open group of citizen scientists and professionals who focus on insects and other invertebrate groups.
It is a non-profit scientific society and sees itself as having a role in promoting general interest in invertebrates, provoking inspirational conversation, and sharing expertise of scientists and specialists. They hold regular meetings, produce a bi-monthly news bulletin for members, The Victorian Entomologist, and hold regular outdoor observation events.

BirdLife Australia is Australia's largest bird conservation charity, made up of hundreds of thousands of members, volunteers and supporters across the country.
The Aussie Bird Count is for all ages and involves observing and counting the birds that live near you, be it in your garden, the local park, the beach or even outside your office window! You don’t need to be an expert birder to take part — all you need is a little enthusiasm!
