Building social connections

Strengthening social connections across our community and with key partner organisations is also key to what the Landcare group does. In addition to ensuring that every learning event incorporates a socialising component, we also hold events focused on meeting, sharing and connecting with each other.

A celebratory event with live music from Neatly Folded Goat, puppets with member Angie McMillan, a talk on Conservation Covenants by Ben Cullen, barbecued venison, party games and a birthday cake.

A social event with a selection of images from our motion-sensing cameras, a member who is a keen photographer, Nev Ragg, followed by BYO curry and a Secret Santa.

2009  

“Helping each other post-fires”

Community coming together after the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires to share experiences, improve understanding of what people may need, and start to think about what we can do to help each other.

“Country in common” with Wurundjeri people.

We hosted a busload of Wurundjeri people wanting to look at some of their burnt Country, gain a better understanding of the impact, and connect to other community groups with similar interests.

2007  

“Four Winds – a walk, talk and gawk” with David Lang

A walk around a member’s property to have a look around, discover different plants, learn a bit about local history, and socialise with neighbours.
