Dunmoochin Landcare
Dunmoochin Landcare was formed in 1992, since that time it has had a long history of promoting conservation values, with residents often recognizing the importance of protecting Dunmoochin’s rich ecosystems and indigenous flora and fauna.
This shared understanding stems from a deep appreciation of the many services the landscape provides to the community—beautiful sounds, amazing smells, shade in summer, magical relationships between animals and plants, an array of orchids, a rich herbaceous understory, and the simple joy of being immersed in a forest landscape, free from the hustle and bustle of more populated and urban areas.
Over the years, our environmental efforts from working bees and events such as bushwalks have created opportunities to appreciate the natural landscape and celebrate our work to protect the indigenous environment from invasive weeds and pest species. Over time this work has led to many long-lasting friendships and shared stories that continue to this day.

Our Mission
Our mission is to protect and enhance the natural ecosystems in the Dunmoochin area. This is achieved by our passionate volunteers dedicating time and resources to understanding the local flora and fauna, conserving valuable habitat for our native animals, and reducing the impact of invasive pest and weed species.
We recognise the diverse values and use of land within our community and strive to educate and empower both new and established community members to work with respect for the conservation values of the area, enabling the safeguard of critical habitats for future generations.
In our mission of protecting natural habitat, we aim to include people with diverse skillsets, knowledge and life experiences to achieve meaningful conservation outcomes.
We pride ourselves on delivering environmental outcomes that protects and enhances the biodiversity values of the area, while fostering a strong sense of community.
